You know there are a number of treadmills sold at the very competitive $999 price range, and practically all include free shipping. Their specs are comparable, though some may have some additional bells and whistles. However, the overriding feature on any treadmill is quality. You want your treadmill to be solid and stable, in addition to being low maintenance.
Yowza Fitness just added the Yowza Siesta to their line-up of treadmills. It sells for $999 with shipping and the specs match many of the comparably priced models. However, this particular machine is built by a company overseas that has a reputation for manufacturing quality equipment at a value price. In fact, I've had dinner with the owner and was very impressed with his commitment to quality control.
Note: The Yowza Fitness Siesta Treadmill typically sells for $999, which includes free shipping and 2-year labor warranty. Go to www.YowzaFitness.com for the latest deal.*
The quality of the Yowza Siesta is indicative in the warranty. The Siesta is covered by a lifetime motor, 5-year parts and 2-year labor coverage. I am not aware of any other treadmill at $999 that has a warranty that is that extensive. It suggests this treadmill is built to last and will require little to no maintenance.
Yowza Siesta Treadmill Features...
Swing Arm Shock Absorption System — This patented shock absorption system reduces the impact to your ankles, knees, hips and back. It is built with two pivots in the front that absorbed the impact of your stride, while giving you a solid lift off towards the back of the deck. I've jogged on this deck, and it is definitely an improvement over the typical elastomers decks, which initially absorb the shock, but then bounce a portion of the impact back into your joints.
2.5 Continuous Duty HP Motor — All $999 treadmill come with at least a 2.5 HP motor. The difference with the Yowza Siesta is the quality. This is one of the better grade motors at this price. It is ideal for both walkers and joggers and is very reliable.
20" x 55" Running Belt — The length is good for moderately tall individuals. If you plan to jog or run and are over 6'1", you may want to consider a treadmill with a longer belt.
Heavy Weight — The Siesta weighs in at 201 lbs., giving it a solid and stable feel. It is heavier than many $999 treadmills.
Console Features — First, the console is thoughtfully designed and compliments the rest of the machine. Built into the console are speakers for MP3 players and 2 fans. The sound is better than you will find in most treadmills. The 2 fans do an adequate job of cooling your core.
Our Review — Yowza Fitness Siesta Treadmill
My one issue with the "Siesta" treadmill is the name. The last thing you will be doing on this machine is snoozing . Beyond the name, the Yowza Siesta offers you a quality machine for not a lot of money. I wouldn't recommend it for hardcore runners, but I would suggest it is one of the best values at $999. That is saying a lot considering how competitive that price is in the treadmill industry.
When looking at other comparably priced treadmills, factor in the cost for the additional parts and labor coverage. For example, many $999 treadmills come with a 1 year parts and labor coverage. There is only one that I know of that has a 2-year labor warranty. So the warranty adds at least $100 value to the Siesta. When you add in the cost of additional coverage this treadmill starts looking like a real bargain.
