What makes the Yowza Fitness Juno treadmill unique is that it is a non-folding treadmill at $999. I'm not aware of any other treadmill in the $1,000 price range that isn't a folding model. And although folding treadmills have become more stable in the last few years, they are not quite as stable as a non-folding version.
There are several issues with a folding treadmill...
First, they require extra mechanisms in order to fold. That includes a subframe and hydraulics. Consequently, folding treadmills cost more to make, so there is less to spend on essential features like motors, decks and belts.
Note: As of 7/29/10 the Yowza Fitness Juno Treadmill was selling for $999 with shipping. Go to YowzaTreadmills.com for the latest price.*

Second, folding treadmill by their nature are not as stable as their non-folding counterpart. It is obvious if you have a deck that can fold up and down, it will not be as stable as one that is locked into place.
Third, the ability to fold is kind of a fake feature. When you fold most treadmills they still take up considerably space, and seriously, what are you going to do with the few extra feet you gain when you fold a treadmill. Few people who purchase a folding treadmill actually fold it.
Yowza Fitness offers a $999 treadmill minus the folding feature. Consequently, the savings goes into building a better machine for walking or jogging.
Yowza Fitness Juno Treadmill Features...
Easy Assembly — All you do is lift up the console, add two screws and caps and your done. I've put together several treadmills in my day, and if I had a choice I'd rather eat a bug. You often get bags of parts and directions that seem to be written by someone with learning disabilities. In many cases you need two people to assemble the treadmill. The Juno is one of the easiest treadmills to assemble on the market.
Progressive Shock Absorption Deck — Ideally you want a deck that absorbs the impact of stride while giving you a solid push-off. The Yowza Juno treadmill has rubber grommets every 5" that get progressively softer as you move up the front of the deck. The result is you get more shock absorption as your foot lands, but you get a firmer push-off towards the back of the deck.
Speakers with iPod Input — The sound isn't going to compare to your home stereo, but it is better than many treadmill sound systems.
2.5 Continuous Duty HP Motor — The particular brand of the motor is used by a number of other companies. It has an excellent service record, that is why they offer a lifetime warranty. The motor is sufficient for walkers and joggers.
20" x 55" Running Surface — Normally treadmills in this price range come with a 54" long treadbelt. What they don't tell you is the shroud may cover an inch or two. The length of the deck is adequate for most users.
Warranty — An indication of the durability of the Yowza Juno is the lifetime motor, 5-year parts and 2-year labor warranty. This is the best coverage for any $999 treadmill.
Our Review - Yowza Fitness Juno Treadmill
What distinguishes the Juno is that for $999 you are getting a fairly rugged treadmill. The quality and the durability of most treadmills in this price range is often questionable. This is one of the more durable models, and not have a folding feature makes it one of the more stable treadmills. It can handle not only walkers but also joggers.
With the Juno your paying for low-maintenance and reliability. There is nothing fancy about this treadmill, although it does have nice curb appeal. In comparison, there are some brands where you're paying for a number of bells and whistle at the expense of the quality of the machine.
If you are looking for quality at a reasonable price, the Yowza Juno is serious contender at $999.
