The Weslo Cadence F9.9 Treadmill falls in the low end category of what I consider a budget treadmill. The most appealing feature is the price, which is around $477 with shipping. When you subtract the cost of shipping, that does not leave much to spend on the components, manufacturing and a profit.
A treadmill typically must take a beating. First, it must withstand the continual impact of the user, and some of those users will have some serious impact, considering their excessive weight. Second, a treadmill must power the user along a deck through the use of a rolling treadbelt powered by a motor. That is why I generally suggest you spend a minimum of $600 for a walking treadmill. A $1,000 for a jogging treadmill, and $1,500 for a solid running treadmill.
Note: I would suggest you also check out some of the ProForm Treadmills. They are built by the same company. They are more durable and come with a longer warranty.
However, there are millions of individuals who want to lose weight and get back into shape in the comfort of their homes, and they don't have a lot of money to do. A treadmill like the Weslo Cadence F9.9 can be appealing, but realize what you are getting.
Weslo Cadence F9.9 Treadmill Features...
2.5 HP Motor - This not the same as a 2.5 continuous duty hp motor. Continuous duty is the industry standard for rating the power of a treadmill. It represents the horsepower that a motor runs at effortlessly. The 2.5 HP motor on the Cadence F9.9 is the peak rating. When comparing to a continuous duty motor you probably are getting about 1.75 hp - a small motor that does not have a lot of oomph. It will strain at higher speeds and under heavy individuals.
18" x 50" Treadmill - Typical belts are 20" wide, the extra two inches can make a difference. Also, 50" length is not that long and taller individuals will feel like they are about to fall of the deep end.
Power Incline - The incline feature allows you to crank up the deck and get a more intense cardio workout. The F9.9 inclines to 10%, which should get your heart beating.
Shock Absorption - The Weslo Cadence F9.9 treadmill will reduce the impact in comparison to walking on asphalt, but it will not have the shock absorption found on higher priced machines.
Fitness Journal - This is a beneficial feature that allows your to track your progress. It helps you to progress and achieve your fitness goals.
Stability - The stability is compromised by the light weight of the machine. They say the user weight limit is 300 lbs. Are they crazy. I would put it at around 210 lbs.
Warranty - You get 5-years on the motor and 90-days parts and labor. The 90 days coverage tells the story. This treadmill is not built to last.
Our Review - Weslo Cadence F9.9 Treadmill
If you've got the money spend more. You'll get a heavier duty machine that will be more durable and give you a more pleasurable workout. If you don't, only purchase this treadmill for walking and if you under 200lbs. Also, I highly recommend you get an extended warranty. Just a service call is $75.
My recommendation is that you consider one of the budget ProForm treadmills at $599. You get a treadmill with a larger deck, bigger motor and better warranty.
