Vision Fitness T9200 Treadmill Review

The T9200 treadmill, is the most popular model from Vision Fitness. Vision is own by Johnson , which is the same company that builds Horizon. You will find Vision Fitness treadmills sold primarily at fitness equipment specialty stores, where you may pay more, but you'll get professional advice and service.

I recently checked out several Vision treadmill at US. Fitness Cary, NC. I talked to the store manager at length about the quality and the durability of the T9200.

What came through in our discussion is that the T9200 is a very reliable machine, and generally requires little maintenance. That is a very important feature. Having a treadmill serviced can be a real hassle.

First, you have to have a serviceman come out and assess the problem, then they have to order the parts and come back to install them. Therefore, buying a treadmill with a good service record is important.

One aspect of the T9200 that I find appealing is that you can get three different versions of the electronics. There is a Simple, Deluxe and Premier version. If all you want out a treadmill is basic speed and incline control, then you can purchase the Simple version. If you desire heart rate control and a variety of challenging workout programs you have your choice of the Deluxe and Premier models. The prices breakdown as follows.

There is one issue with the Vision Fitness T9200. Is it worth the price, and are there better values? Let's take a look at the features and see how they match up.

The Vision Fitness T9200 Features.

20" x 54" Treadbelt - This is what I would consider the minimal acceptable size for a treadmill. If you are tall or plan to run you will want a longer deck, which you can get wit their T9600 model.

2.5 Continuous Duty HP Motor - Vision uses quality components, including their motor. This motor is adequate for walking and jogging.

1" Deck - A thick deck that will do a good job of absorbing impact. At 1" you don't have to worry about the deck cracking if you are extremely overweight.

225 lbs Unit Weight - At 225 lbs. you can expect a solid and stable feel. Also, the treadmill is made with heavy gauge steel, which further adds to the stability.

Warranty - Lifetime frame and motor, 5-year parts and 1-year labor. The 5-year parts coverage is above average.

Our Review - Vision Fitness T9200 Treadmill

The Vision T9200 is a solid machine with a good service record. Although starting at $1,300 for just the Simple version is getting a bit pricey. If you want pre-programmed exercise routines, the Deluxe version is going for $1,500. At that price you will also want to look at the Sole F80, Smooth 6.25 and the BowFlex 7.

Consumer Reports

CR rated the Vision Fitness T9200 Simple a "Best Buy. The gave it a "Very Good" rating for construction. It should be noted that they listed the treadbelt as only 52".
