Get ready to take out a second mortgage, but it will be worth it in the long run. The Star Trac TR 4500 Treadmill is a commercial grade treadmill that is also built for residential use. It comes loaded with features and is a solid workhorse. It has a generous 20" x 62" treadbelt that has a solid, but forgiving feel. This treadmill is very pricey, but you are getting the very best in quality and reliability.

If you got the money and you want the best then this is the ideal treadmill. The advantage of a commercial quality treadmill is that they are built to last. Commercial treadmill are designed for 5-10 hours use a day. With the TR 4500 you get a lengthy 62" treadbelt, 3.0" rollers that contribute to extended wear of the belt and triple cell cushioning system for increased shock absorption. You get a very generous three year labor warranty, although the 3 year parts is rather light. We are surprised the motor isn't bigger, but you can assume that it is a quality motor, unlike the Icon motors.

There are two versions, one with and without the heart rate control. The HRC only costs $50, so after dropping almost $5K you might as well get the full package.

If you want to save a few thousand dollars you may want to check out the Smooth 9.25 HR or 9.25X. The X comes with a lifetime warranty.
