Solid Running Machine with 15" LCD TV

Smooth Fitness launched their new 9 Series treadmills last fall. The Smooth 9.45TV treadmill is their high-end model, loaded with some impressive features. I checked it out when I was at the corporate headquarters, and was very impressed. You are getting a quality machine that also entertains. And having a distraction when you are burning calories is appealing. That is why you find rows of TVs at health clubs.

Large 15" LCD TV - You will find most treadmills equipped with TVs have a miniscule screen. The norm is 7"-8". At that size, you strain to see the picture. At 15" it is more like watching a normal size TV than some handheld model.

It is also interesting to note that the TV is not built into the console, but sits on a separate frame. Why is that important?

First, being separate, it the TV goes you don't have to buy a new console, if the console goes you don't need to buy a new TV.

Second, having the TV sit on separate frame means it is not affected by the impact of the deck. This means a stable TV for your viewing pleasure.

Finally, with console equipped TVs you have to look down to view, with the 9.45 the 15" is located at eye level.

The TV comes with coaxial and RGB connections for cable, satellite, DVD player or even a video game console. It includes two hi-fidelity, 5-Watt speakers and a plug-in for your headphones or earbuds.

Unit Weight - At 315 lbs. the weight of the 9.45TV is comparable to many commercial models. Obviously, the heavy weight contributes to the stability.

Stylish - I don't usually comment on the overall look and design, but I have to say this is an attractive looking machine. It is one of those unique models that catches your eye.

Our Review - Smooth 9.45TV Treadmill

When you factor in all the features, including a TV, speakers and warranty, you have an impressive treadmill. For the money it offers some good value for a high-end running machine.

This treadmill is a monster, and is extremely stable and solid. In fact, I would recommend you get the inside delivery. You don't want to have to carry this 315 lbs. this monster into the house.

In general, Smooth has a good reputation for quality and service. The feedback I've gotten from Smooth is that the 9.45TV has a good service record with minimal issues. I suspect this model is going to be a hot seller. And from my conversations with the company, the first deliveries last winter sold out quickly.
