The Smooth 5.25 is Replaced with the Upgraded
Smooth 5.45 Treadmill
Smooth
has always had a strong contender at the $1,000 price range. The
Smooth 5.25 treadmill is no exception. It has been out for at
least 3 years, and has an excellent track record for service and
quality.
When I was at the corporate headquarters
I asked if they were considering replacing this model. Basically
the answer was, when you've got a winner why change.
The 5.25 comes with a powerful 2.5 continuous duty
horsepower motor, backed with a lifetime warranty. This motor
should be problem free and last for the life of the treadmill. Makes
sense since they are offering a lifetime warranty. This is the same
motor they've used with their other models, and it has proven to
be very reliable.
The
one feature I particularly like is the Swing Arm Suspension
System. The 5.25 has levers towards the front designed to provide
extra shock absorption. Your front foot gets a soft landing, while
you have a firm push-off from the rear part of the deck.
This
system reduces pressure on the lower back, muscles and tendons
thus preventing injuries. I've workout on a Smooth treadmill
with this technology, and you can really tell the difference.
Another
factor that makes the Smooth 5.25 a good buy, is the overall weight
- 195 lbs. This is one of the heavier treadmills at $1,000. The
weight is important because it contributes to the stability, and
provides a very solid feel. The downside is it's difficult to move.
Therefore, consider inside delivery, it is only $49.

Ratings and Reviews - Smooth 5.25
When
I tested the Smooth 5.25 I found it very stable for a folding treadmill.
At higher speeds the motor was quiet, suggesting it was not straining.
The deck provided just the right amount of shock absorption. Not
to rigid and yet not sloppy.
When
you add up the features and compare to other treadmills in the $1,000
price range, you conclude this is a good value. Particularly when
considering shipping is included in the price, and you get a
3-year parts warranty. There is no treadmill in this price range
that has more than a 3-year parts warranty. Most have 1-year coverage.
Another
important factor is that the Smooth 5.25 has a good service record.
There are more durable treadmills, but they cost considerably more. I've been told by the Smooth Customer Service Manager, they get few service calls. Of course, you would expect him to say that, but in this case I believe there is a degree of truth.
We
recommend the Smooth 5.25 treadmill for walking and casual jogging.
If you are a regular jogger, I suggest you check out the Sole
F80 or the Smooth 6.25.

Review
I was hesitant to order a treadmill on line. The lack of variety in the local shopping lead me to research the treadmills on line and I did order this unit online. I'm glad I took the chance. This is a great treadmill. I have done some jogging, mostly walking. It compares with some of the treadmills at my local gym. I walk about 10 miles a week on it. So far so good. I paid the extra delivery charge and the box was put in the room I requested. It is a large, heavy box and the extra $49.00 was well worth it. my husband put it together in less than an hour. - Judy
THE WIFE AND I LOVE IT! SO SMOOTH AND HEAVY DUTY. TOGETHER WE'VE LOST OVER OVER 55LBS.IN 10 WEEKS!
solid,
reliable, comfortable - I have owned and used the Smooth Fitness
5.25 Treadmill for about six months. I've had lower-cost treadmills,
and you do get what you pay for. (Though I don't see that spending
$3000 gains all that much.) This one is definitely worth the price.
It's comfortable and stable, and a pleasure to use. My significant
other and I put around 30 miles per week on it, so we're not heavy
users like runners in training. We both use the power incline
and vary the speed a lot.
Note: One customer complained about the standard
delivery and having the treadmill dropped off at the curb. I
would recommend you pay the extra money for the inside delivery.
This machine is not only heavy, but also awkward to move.
