There are a number of features on the Smooth 9.65TV treadmill that make this a consideration, including the lifetime parts warranty.

4.0 Continuous Duty HP Motor — The continuous duty designation is the horsepower the motor runs at without straining.  At 4.0 HP you get one of the most powerful motors you will find on a residential treadmill.  And what that means is that the treadmill will run effortlessly at the highest speeds or with excessively heavy individuals, in addition to being very quiet so you can listen to the TV.

21" x 64" Running Surface — This is one of the longest running surfaces you will find on a residential treadmill. Being a treadmill designed for serious runners, the length is ideal for the long strides that come with running.  Typically treadmills at this price range have a 60" running surface.

Im-Pression Shock Absorption System — I've tested this low impact deck and it is very forgiving to your joints.  The concept behind it is that as your foot lands towards the front of the deck you get a soft impact, meanwhile you get a firmer push-off towards the rear.  Exactly what you want, and one of the benefits a treadmill offers in comparison to running outdoors.

Sound System with MP3 Input — Most treadmills come with speakers these days.  However, a number of companies go with the cheapest speakers and drivers, so they can claim their machine has a sound system.  The problem is the sound is unbearable.  I have an elliptical with a built-in sound system and I use my portable player instead, because I can't stand the poor quality.  Smooth spent a few bucks on their sound system so you get a clear, crisp sound that you can enjoy. 

Speed and Incline Controls in the Handlebars — The logic behind this feature is too make it easy to change the speed and incline without having to awkwardly reach forward as you are running.

325 Lbs. Unit Weight — At 325 lbs. there is no question about the stability. This is the kind of weight you would expect with a commercial treadmill.  Although I seriously recommend you consider the inside delivery option.  Typical of the majority of treadmill companies, the free delivery usual means to the curb. 

3" Rollers — These are good size rollers that provide more surface area for your treadbelt to roll on. Larger rollers will extend the life of your motor, belt, and bearings, and they reduce the noise level .

Warranty — As mentioned, you get lifetime coverage on all parts and 2 years service. 

Our Review — Smooth 9.65TV Treadmill

If you are a serious runner and are considering a treadmill, you first want a machine that will accommodate the special needs of  running.  The Smooth 9.65TV has features ideal for runners like a large motor, extra long running surface and 3" rollers.  You also want a treadmill that is reliable.  Obviously a lifetime parts and 2 year labor warranty implies this machine is low maintenance and built to last.  If it wasn't, Smooth would lose money on the coverage.  Sole use to be the leader in the war of warranties, but Smooth has surpassed them in the last few years.

Finally,  the built-in LCD TV gives you the distraction you need to overcome the boredom of running in place, which can result in exercising for longer periods.  The other advantage of the TV in the console is that it is conveniently located for viewing.  So if you want a heavy duty treadmill and you like to watch TV as you workout, it is all in this slick package.
