The
Smooth 7.6 HR Pro is designed for runners, and built to take a beating.
It may not be the commercial quality you will find in high-end Precor
or Landice treadmills, on the other hand it will cost you a couple
of thousand less.
This is a relatively new model, and therefore I
have yet to try it out. However, I've tested enough of their models
to be familiar with the various components and features that make
up the Smooth 7.6 HR Pro.
The Smooth 7.6 HR Pro Features.
3.0 HP Continuous Duty Motor -
They've been using this motor for years and it holds up very well, and
does not strain at high speeds or steep inclines. Chances are slim
that it will ever cause you any trouble.
Note: As of 4/20/08 the Smooth 7.6
HR Pro was selling for $1,999 with shipping. A good value in this price range. Go to
www.SmoothFitness.com
for the latest deal.
If selling for more, since Smooth changes sales regularly, check out the Sole F85 — it comes with a 2-year service warranty.
60" Long Treadbelt - The longer
treadbelt is not only appealing to taller users, but you will appreciate
it if you are running sprints or engaged in interval training. You
won't feel like you are about to fall off the end.
310
Lbs. Unit Weight - The weight of this treadmill is similar
to that of a commercial model. The bottom line is this machine is
very stable and solid. And take my advise, get the inside delivery
option. YOU DO NOT WANT TO HAVE THIS TREADMILL DROPPED AT THE CURB
AND HAVE TO MOVE IT INDOORS.
Power Folding Feature - The Smooth
7.6 comes with a push button auto-folding feature. Although most
folding treadmills have some form of hydraulic lift to make folding
easy, at 310 lbs it makes sense to have this feature.
Note: If you are looking for a
compact folding treadmill, this is not the model. Being so big and
heavy, the base is fairly large to handle the size. When folded
it is still 39" x 49".
Shock Absorbing Deck - Smooth uses
a unique design that gives you a soft landing for the front foot
and firm push-off for the rear, which is exactly what you want to
reduce impact, but still have stability for your push-off.
LED
Console - Smooth generally has some of the better looking
treadmill console designs. The console allows you to monitor multiple
feedback simultaneously. The only drawback is that there is not
a series of buttons to jump your speed or incline. You have to scroll
up and down.
You get a nice selection of workout programs, nine
storable user profiles and wireless heart rate control.
Warranty - You get lifetime on
the motor, which is getting to be standard. You also get 5-year
parts and 1-year labor coverage. The five-year parts warranty is
above average.
Our Review - Smooth 7.6 HR Pro
If you are looking for a home treadmill and you
are a runner, this model is worth considering. You will find treadmills
out there with 3.0 hp motors and 60" long treadbelts, but you probably
are not going to find a more durable model at this price range.
Smooth has a reputation for building quality machines that under
normal circumstances require minimum maintenance.
