The
ProForm Perspective LX 1.0 treadmill is the most inexpensive treadmill
with a TV on the market. If you are considering this machine, realize
it is basically a budget treadmill with a 7" flat screen TV
built-in. This treadmill is primarily designed for walking even
if they show a woman jogging in the photo.
Icon Fitness, who also builds Epic, NordicTrack, Reebok, Image
and Weslo, is building a number of the models with televisions (See
NordicTrack TV treadmill reviews.).
They are very popular because they serve duo purpose - being entertained
while burning calories and getting in shape.
Exercising
on a treadmill is boring - it's a fact. Unlike exercising in the
great outdoors, you are stuck in the same place. The view never
changes. However, exercising on a treadmill offers convenience,
and reduces stress to your joints. With the ProForm Perspective
LX 1.0 treadmill, the television is built into the console, which
allows you to watch your favorite cable shows or videos. And unlike
an external TV, the Perspective has it located in the console where
your vision is centrally focused.
What to Expect from the ProForm Perspective LX 1.0
This treadmill is not built for jogging or running. If you are
looking for a treadmill with a TV that can accommodate jogging or
running, you'll want to check out the NordicTrack
Apex 8500 and ProForm Perspective
ES,. They are equipped with bigger motors and stronger decks.
The Perspective LX 1.0 comes with a 2.25 continuous duty motor.
This should handle walkers, even with the incline cranked up. You
get a 55" long treadbelt - this size is adequate for average
height individuals up to around 6'1". You get a nice selection
of installed programs, allowing you to add variety to your workout.
A couple of notes:
First, they put the weight limit at 300 lbs. - I would not buy
this machine if you weight over 250 lbs.
Second, the standard warranty is 90-days parts and labor, although
the motor is covered for 15 years. I encourage you to get an
extended warranty - at least 2 years. That way you are covered
if there are any service issues.
Our Review - The ProForm Perspective LX 1.0 TV
If you are considering a treadmill with a TV, this is the best
value out there. Last I looked it was selling for $999. However,
be aware you are getting a budget treadmill, built with budget parts.
Once again, this is a walking treadmill designed for moderate use.
If you want a treadmill that is more heavy-duty, consider the NordicTrack
models listed above, or buy a quality treadmill, sans TV, and buy
yourself a cheap television that you can mount in front of the machine.
