The ProForm H90t treadmill built by Icon Fitness compares fairly well against other brands of budget treadmills. Its lifetime frame and motor warranties combined with the one-year parts and labor warranty are, in fact, much better warranties than those that come with many low-end treadmills. However, realize this is a budget treadmill and that it has its limitations.
Even though the ProForm H90t treadmill is a decent budget machine, be sure to check out the current price of this model as well as the price of the ProForm Club Series H120t. If the prices of these models are relatively close in range, you’d be better off spending your money on the Club Series H120t treadmill. The Club Series H120t not only has a longer treadbelt, but it also has features that the H90t doesn’t have, including iFit® technology.
Let’s take a look at the features that DO come on the ProForm H90t treadmill:
- 20” x 55” treadbelt – This is five inches shorter than the treadbelt on the Club Series H120t treadmill. However, it is plenty adequate for average-to-short users.
- Heart rate monitor – The monitor consists of built-in handlebar sensors which must be gripped to get a pulse reading. This can be a bit awkward while still in motion, and the reading isn’t going to be 100% accurate. However, it’s still better than no heart rate monitor at all, and it will give you a general idea of what intensity level you need to be working at to maintain your desired heart rate.
- Built-in sound system – Speakers and a music port that is compatible with your iPod® or MP3 player allow you to easily jam to your favorite tunes while working out on your treadmill. Music is a great way to keep you motivated throughout each workout.
- 16 personal trainer workouts and 2 user create and save workouts – For a budget treadmill, you get quite a variety of workout programs to let you mix up your routines and help you reach your fitness goals.
- Workout fan – The fan may not blast you with cool air, but its light breeze certainly helps to keep you more comfortable during your exercise sessions.
Our Review – The ProForm H90t Treadmill
The ProForm H90t treadmill by Icon Fitness is a fairly good “budget” machine. Compared to other low-end treadmills, the H90t is likely going to be more stable, more durable, and more dependable. It also has nicer features than most low-end treadmills. Like pretty much all budget treadmills, however, this model is really suitable only for walking and MAYBE light jogging.
Although the ProForm H90t treadmill is a decent machine, you could spend a little more money and get the ProForm Club Series H120t treadmill. The two machines are similar in design. Yet, the H120t model is a step above the H90t, and you get a little more for your money. The Club Series H120t gives you 5 inches more in length of walking surface than you get on the H90t model. The H120t also comes with a few more built-in workout programs, iFit® technology to provide even more choices in exercise routines, as well as a little more speed and incline capabilities.
Note: They list the weight capacity at 325 lbs. I feel that is very excessive and a more realistic capacity should be 240 lbs.
