ProForm 6.0 GSX Treadmill Review

I normally do not review treadmills like the ProForm 6.0 GSX, because at this price level you often are getting a product of questionable quality. However, the fact is, ProForm sells tons of cheap treadmills, and unfortunately the results are similar to the customer review that is below. So more than a review this is a warning.

On the surface, the specs and features of the 6.0 GSX appear to be a bargain. For example, they advertise a 2.75 hp motor. Actually, they call it a 2.75 THP MachZ motor. Not sure what that means, but you can be reasonably assured it is not a 2.75 continuous duty motor, which is the real rating that you want. This is probably a puny motor that they try to disguise with a patented name.

They also state that the ProForm 6.0 GSX treadmill can accommodate up to a 300 lb user. This is so absurd. Any person at that weight level would decimate this treadmill in no time. It should be noted, this treadmill comes with a 90-day parts and labor warranty (10 year on the motor.). The warranty says something about the construction and the quality of the components.

One recurring comment I see from people who buy ProForm products is their dismal customer service. These machines quite often need service, and unfortunately the service department is less then responsive. Therefor, if you are planning on buying a ProForm 6.0 GSX, you may want to reconsider, especially after you read the review below.

Comments: I have owned this for a little over a year. In that time, I have replaced the walking platform once & need to do it again. I have also replaced the belt. To call this machine "light duty" would be an understatement. To date I have spent around $200 on replacement parts & need to spend another $150 to get this operational again. (the original purchase price was $500.00).The most disappointing thing is the lack of response from their customer service dept. I have sent E-mails (received an automated response) saying that I would be contacted in 48 hours. That was a month ago & I still haven't gotten a response! The part that I need has been out of stock for over a month (to me this indicates a problem). I have also called (only to get a promise of a call back). I have called 6 times & every time all of their reps have been too busy to answer the phone. This is a substandard product with an even worse customer service department.

To be fair there are seven reviews of the ProForm 6.0 GSX on the HSN.com web site, and they all give the treadmill five stars out of five. I have to say that makes me a bit suspicious. Not even the top of the line treadmills get that kind of consistent high ranking. Hmmm!
