Priced as a budget treadmill, the ProForm 810 TR treadmill by Icon is not your ordinary budget machine.  With features that you would expect to find on a higher-end model, the 810 TR is a decent treadmill, compared to others in the same category.

It goes without saying, however, that even the ProForm 810 TR treadmill has limitations.  It is, after all, still a budget treadmill.  It may be a suitable buy for those of you who merely want a machine for walking.  It may suffice for those of you who casually exercise and do not want to risk investing too much money in equipment that may end up collecting dust in a corner.  If your budget can’t afford a more expensive treadmill, the 810 TR is one of the better ones in this price range.

What features set this affordable treadmill apart from comparable models?

ProForm 810 TR Features

One of my favorite features on the ProForm 810 TR treadmill is the iFit technology.  This technology isn’t found on all low-end treadmills, so when you find one that has it, consider it a major asset!

Below is a list of features that are included on the ProForm 810 TR:

• iFit Fitness Journal—Allows up to 2 users to track training progress daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly.  This is an excellent feature for monitoring workout totals and fitness successes over a period of time.
• 20 built-in workouts feature iFit training technology and let you customize your own workout settings to fit your personal needs and fitness goals.  It’s like having your own personal trainer right there with you!
• Four “Create and Save” workouts—With this feature, you can create up to four customized workouts and save them for future use.
• Drop shock—The easy-drop shock slowly lowers the treadmill deck to protect your floor from damage. 
• “Graffix” display—The display shows your pulse, time, distance, speed, and calories burned, so that you can easily monitor your progress.  Additionally, it also displays animated figures that go through the workout with you, and it shows a visual image of your heart beat.  This is another fabulous iFit technology.
• iPod dock—The iPod docking station and built-in speakers make it convenient to rock out to your favorite music as you build stamina, strength, and tolerance.

As you can see, the ProForm 810 TR treadmill has some exceptional features for such an affordable machine! 

Our Review—The ProForm 810 TR Treadmill

In spite of being loaded with features that aren’t typically found on a lower-end treadmill, the ProForm 810 TR does have its limitations. 

Its 2.25 HP “commercial” motor is fine for walkers and, perhaps, light joggers.  It may not be able to withstand the constant pounding of a devoted runner, however. 

The treadbelt, which measures 20” x 55,” is a nice size for most people.  For taller athletes or those with an extra long stride, it may not be adequate.

The ProForm 810 TR treadmill is certainly worth its cost!  In fact, with all its features, this machine is a great value.  Nevertheless, I don’t recommend it for regular joggers or runners, nor do I recommend it for extremely large users.  It is a good buy for average-size walkers and people on a tight budget.
