ProForm 980 CS Treadmill Review

The ProForm 980 CS treadmill is sold through major retailers like Best Buy, Dick's Sporting Goods and GNC. It typically sells for $999. For the price you get a 60" treadbelt and a 3.0 hp motor. Both which are appealing to joggers who may require the extra length for long strides and the additional power to sustain higher speeds.

ProForm has always offers some of the best value in the industry at the $999 price range.

One of the additional features that make this treadmill appealing is the iFit Journal, which is not to be confused with iFit technology that controls the speed and incline of your treadmill while providing audio coaching. The journal allows you to track record and track you progress, which is helpful in setting and attaining fitness goals.   

Another thing I like about the ProForm 980 CS treadmill is the iPod dock and built-in speakers.  There’s nothing more motivating than listening to your favorite music while exercising.

What other features come on the ProForm 980 CS treadmill?

Other features on the ProForm 780 CS treadmill are fairly standard on most of today’s treadmills.  Those features include:

• Heart rate monitor with grip pulse sensors in the handlebars – Getting a heart rate reading with this type of monitor may be a bit awkward in the midst of exercising.  Nevertheless, any kind of heart rate monitor is better than none.
• Cooling fan – Having a little breeze blowing towards your upper body during workouts can keep you somewhat cooler and more comfortable.  When you’re comfortable, you’re better able to get through exercise sessions.
• Backlit LCD display – When it comes to an LCD display, backlit is preferable.  It’s easier to read than other LCD displays.
• Incline – The 980 CS treadmill can incline up to 12% with the touch of a button.  Walking on an incline increases the intensity of your workouts, burning more calories and working muscles differently than walking on a flat surface.
• Workout programs – The ProForm 980 CS has 24 built-in workout programs.  That’s quite a variety of programs for a treadmill in this price range.  Whatever your fitness goal, there’s a program that can help you achieve it. 
• Warranty - You get lifetime on the motor, 1-year parts and 1-year labor. Standard for ProForm, however there are some other brands at the same price that have better coverage like Smooth LiveStrong and Sole.

Our Review – The ProForm 980 CS Treadmill

For the price the ProForm 908 CS is appealing, particularly when you factor in the 60" treadbelt and the 3.0 continous duty HP motor. Although you can find what I consider some better values with other models found at ProForm.com. In particular you can get similar treadmills that also include either iFit card technology or the new iFit Live. These features have become big hits and are on some of the most popular treadmills that ProForm sells.
