For a low-budget treadmill, the ProForm 580 CS is a decent machine. Being an Icon product, you can be assured that this treadmill will be higher quality than most other brands in the same price category.
Icon is the world’s largest fitness equipment company. It has invested a great deal of time and money into research and development of fitness equipment that is both affordable and innovative. Therefore, even their budget models are more dependable than many similar models.
If you are on a limited budget and cannot afford a higher-end treadmill, the ProForm 580 CS treadmill may be the right one for you. Of course, as with any lower-priced treadmill, you aren’t going to get the same quality as you would with a more expensive model. Nevertheless, the ProForm 580 CS is a machine that has a variety of programs and technology to help you reach your fitness goals.
ProForm 580 CS Treadmill Features
There are some features that stand out on the ProForm 580 CS treadmill. Among those features are:
Twelve preprogrammed workouts that focus on aerobic, weight-loss, or performance goals. Each program automatically adjusts the speed and incline levels to keep you working within the designated range.
- 2 Create and Save Workouts allow you to customize your own workouts and save them for future use.
- Cooling fans are locatedin the console to make your workouts more comfortable.
- The LED display makes it easy to monitor your speed, distance, time, heart rate, and calories burned. (LED displays are generally higher quality than LCD displays.)
- 20” x 55” running surface: Large enough to comfortably accommodate an average-size user. It may not be adequate, however, for users over 6’ tall.
- 2.8 HP motor is powerful enough to handle walkers and, perhaps, light joggers. It probably won’t be as smooth and efficient for runners, and it may not hold up under the pounding of multiple users as well as a more powerful motor. Although the motor is protected by a 25-year warranty, it is definitely intended for residential use only.
Our Review—The ProForm 580 CS Treadmill
If you really want your own treadmill, and all you can afford is a low-end model, I recommend you check out the ProForm 580 CS treadmill. Backed by the Icon name, you can expect this to be a better budget treadmill than most. If your expectations are realistic about a machine in this price category, I think you’ll find the ProForm 580 CS more than adequate as a walking treadmill.
This particular treadmill may not be durable and sturdy enough for runners, but you could still get a great workout by walking briskly and/or engaging the incline feature. It’s amazing how many calories one can burn and how easily you can reach your targeted heart rate simply by walking on an incline.
As an inexpensive walking treadmill, the ProForm 580 CS is relatively stable and dependable. For those who need more from a treadmill, however, I recommend saving your money and waiting until you can afford to spend more on a higher-end model.
