ProForm 570 Crosswalk Treadmill Review

ProForm keeps coming out with different versions of the CrossWalk model. The latest is the ProForm 570 CrossWalk treadmill. It has a feature that I frankly think is a bit absurd. It is your basic treadmill with handlebars that like an elliptical trainer are suppose to give you an upper body workout.

I feel the design of a treadmill does not lend itself to using handlebars that are connected to the console. With an elliptical trainer the design allows for the handlebars to be optimally positioned in close proximity to the center of the elliptical motion. In addition, the handlebars work in conjunction with the elliptical stride. Both the pedals and the handlebars move in unison.

With the ProForm 570 CrossWalk you need to be almost on top of the console, meaning you must exercise almost at the very front of the belt.

Beyond this features, the 570 comes with some decent features that when on sale makes it a consideration regardless of the handle bars.

1.75" Continuous Duty HP Motor - This motor is modest in size and power and adequate for generally walkers.

12 PreProgrammed Exercise Workouts - The ProForm 570 CrossWalk comes with a generous selection of workouts that control the speed and incline of your treadmill. What I like to do to break up the monotony is to alternate programs and get a variety of challenges.

3 Interactive CrossWalk Workouts - This is similar to the installed workout programs, except these programs include audio coaching that includes using the handlebars to tone your upper body.

Built-in Fan - This feature is not a big expense, but it is nice to have a breeze blowing directly at your core. It is a more efficient way to cool down.

20" x 55" Treadbelt - A reasonable size belt for walking of light jogging. If you are extremely tall you may want to consider a model with a 60" length.

Our Review - ProForm 570 CrossWalk Treadmill

If you want a machine that will give you a balanced upper and lower body workout get an elliptical trainer. If you want a good cardio workout from walking or jogging get a treadmill, but maybe not this model. I recommend you check out the other ProForm treadmills and also the NordicTrack models. They are built by the same company. Icon Fitness, the parent companies tends to be more aggressive in discounting the NordicTrack treadmills.
