If you have a limited budget, the ProForm I-Series 660 CrossTrainer is a definite consideration. Having just been to the ProForm manufacturing facilities, it was evident they make some of the best budget treadmills on the market. However, you are still getting a budget machine with budget components.
If you are considering the I-Series 660 CrossTrainer, realize this treadmill is primarily designed for walking and moderate use. If you plan to run or jog, and if there will be multiple users, I recommend you upgrade.
That said, there is one particular feature on the ProForm I-Series 660 CrossTrainer that stands out.
The ProForm I-Series 660 comes with a unique twist on installed workout programs. You get programs designed by certified personal trainers. They include 2 calorie-burn workouts (400, 500 calories) each equipped with 2 time options. There are 4 cross training programs the use the included 2 lb. weights so you can get both a cardio and strength workout. It is not the same as working out on weight machines, but it will strengthen the upper body. The interactive cross-training coach controls the speed and incline of your treadmill, while intermittently prompting you to perform a variety of strength-training exercises.
Other ProForm I-Series 660 CrossTrainer Features.
2.0 Continous Duty HP Motor - Not the strongest motor you will find on a treadmill, but adequate enough to handle walkers and not strain in the process.
Built-in Fan - When talking to the staff at ProForm I was amazed that the built-in fan is one of the favorite features for customers. Since it is built into the console, the breeze is focused directly on you to get the best results.
19" x 55" Treadbelt - The belt is adequate for average to slightly above average height individuals.
Console and Display - For the money you get a user friendly display that shows calories, distance and elapsed time. There is also a graphic that simulates a person walking for jogging, depending on the current speed. The console has quick push buttons that allows you to instantly select the speed or incline you want without having to scroll.
Warranty - In the past ProForm usually gave a 90-day parts and labor warranty. These days even their budget model, like the I-Series 660 comes with a 1-year parts and labor. You also get a 12 year motor warranty, usually because the motors seldom break. However, you may want to increase the 1-year coverage to 2-3 years to cover your investment.
Our Review - ProForm I-Series 660 CrossTrainer
- There are two reasons to consider this treadmill.
- The budget price, when it is on sale.
The variety of programs and challenges that help you to reach your fitness goals.
All the other features at not bad for the price.
My recommendation is you spend more money and get a treadmill that is more heavy-duty,especially if you weigh in excess of 230 lbs. However, if your budget is limited, the ProForm I-Series 660 is one of the better offerings in this price range.
Customer Review (ProForm 5.0 CrossTrainer)
I have been completely impressed with my new treadmill that I bought from ProForm.com. I was looking for a treadmill that was affordable and would last me a long time. The 5.0 Crosstrainer has been that machine. It is a very sturdy and durable machine that has all the functions I wanted on an easy to read console. I have been trying to loose some weight and this treadmill keeps track of how many calories I burn while I am on it as well as giving me an eating guide to follow. This has really made it simple for me to keep track of how many calories I burn as opposed to what I eat. Knowing that makes it a lot easier to reach my weight loss goals. There are also plenty of workouts on this machine that keeps me excited to get back on the treadmill every day.
