You Get What You Pay For!

ProForm 350 Treadmill ReviewThe ProForm 350 treadmill is getting into what I consider the cheap end of the treadmill range. Last I looked on www.ProForm.com, it was selling for $499, with shipping. There is no way you can sell at such a bargain price and not have to compromise on the quality of the components. You've got to cut corners in order to cut prices.

ProForm normally has a number of treadmills in the sub $500 price range. They appeal to a growing number of individuals who want to lose weight and get back in shape. And the price of these models is obviously attractive. But let the buyer beware!

The problem with these inexpensive treadmills is there usage is very limited. Something that ProForm doesn't make quite clear. For example, if you go to their site you will see a photo of the 350 treadmill with a woman running on it. That would suggest that you could run on this treadmill.

ProForm 350 treadmill consoleThe guidelines I usually suggest are, if you plan to jog on a treadmill, you need to spend at least $1,000. You can run on the ProForm 350 treadmill, but there is a good chance you are going to run into mechanical problems.

Furthermore, the 350 has a 17"x 20" treadbelt. That is small by treadmill standards. Once again, if you look at the photo you can see the woman is about to run off the end. Her foot is hovering at the edge of the belt. Also, a 17" wide belt is an uncomfortable width to walk or run on.

There is another concern with this treadmill. ProForm claims it has a 250 lb. weight capacity. That is pushing it, and anyone working out on this treadmill at this weight limit will potential damage the deck.

Also be aware that this treadmill does not come with any built in workout programs. You control the speed and incline manually. Some people like the variety that built-in programs provide.

There is a feature I do like, the 2.25 THP motor. I assume the THP stand for the continuous duty rating (the HP the motor can run during extended periods.). The motor should be adequate for walking exercises.

Our Review - The ProForm 350 Treadmill

I would suggest you take a pass on this model. Save your money and get a treadmill with a bigger deck and motivating workout programs. For a few hundred dollars more you can get the ProForm Perspective LX 1.0 with a 7" flat screen TV, 20" x 55" treadbelt, and 12 built-in programs.

I would also recommend the Smooth 5.45 treadmill, with a 2.5 hp motor. This treadmill comes with a lifetime motor, 3-year parts and 1-year labor warranty. A solid machine with a good reputation.

One last note, if you do decide to buy the ProForm 350 you will want to purchase an extended warranty. There is a good chance you will need it. It comes with a 90-day parts and labor warranty.
