The Precor 9.27 treadmill is their residential model. Although a quality machine, it is not comparable to the 9.3 series of treadmills. Those treadmills are built at the Precor manufacturing facility in the U.S. and utilize many of the components found on the Precor commercial models. The Precor 9.27 is built offshore, like most other treadmills, and the component are not the same commercial quality of their higher price machines.
However, what makes the Precor 9.27 attractive is that you are still getting the Precor quality at a very reasonable price. The company recently lowered the price $900. This is not a marketing hype. What happened is they signed an agreement with Dick's Sporting Goods to sell their two 9.2 series treadmill. They wanted to aggressively go after that retail market and decided to compromise on margin in exchange for volume. Consequently, you can now buy the exact machine for $900 less than what it was selling for just a couple of months ago.
Note: You can purchase the Precor 9.27 Treadmill direct at www.Precor.com. There is also a dealer locator available.
Precor 9.27 Treadmill Features...
3.0 Continuous Duty HP Motor — They do not use the commercial grade motor found in their other treadmills, but it is still more than adequate to accommodate the needs of runners. It runs quietly even at higher speeds.
2.36" Precision-machined, steel crowned rollers keep belt centered and running smoothly to reduce noise and wear.
20" x 57" Treadbelt — The length will handle the strides of runners comfortably.
Multi-Zone Suspension System — Because you are running on a moving treadbelt, when you strike the deck you can experience an acceleration or deceleration. According to Precor...
"The 9.27 measures your foot speed and recalibrate the belt speed up to 57 times per second at 12 mph, reducing the joint and shoe discomfort common with treadmills that interrupt, rather than support, your natural stride. When your heel strikes the treadmill, the foot delivers a powerful spike of energy. The treadmill reads this energy spike and uses the information to make minute belt-speed adjustments as you run or walk. So your stride remains fluid, which reduces fatigue, creates a greater sense of ease, and promotes a more energetic, aerobic workout."
Wireless Heart Rate Control — In contrast to the Precor 9.23 you get wireless heart rate control. The speed of the treadmill can be determined by your heart rate, which is a way to optimize your workout.
10 Installed Programs — Programs include (2) Heart Rate, (2) Walk, 5 K Track, Fun Run, Hill Climb, Interval, Manual, and Weight Loss.
2 User IDs — Store specs for two user.
238 lbs. Unit Weight — Heavy enough to guarantee you will have a solid and stable feel.
Warranty — Lifetime frame and welds; 5-yars parts and wear items; 1-year labor. There are other brands in this price range that include lifetime motor and 2-year labor coverage. However, Precor treadmills have an exceptional reputation for being durable and low maintenance machines.
