If
you've read any of my PaceMaster reviews, you know that I have a high regard for
this company and the products they produce. From my perspective, PaceMaster
treadmills are what a treadmill should be. They are durable machines providing
high performance. If there is any criticism, it is the price. This is not a large
volume company. The products are sold primarily through fitness equipment specialty
stores, where the sales price often includes a salespersons commission. You often
are paying a premium for one of the best mid-priced treadmills available.
The
PaceMaster Silver is the next model up from the PaceMaster Bronze. The MSRP of
the Silver is $300 more than the Bronze, costing $1,999. For the extra money you
get: - Upgraded
Belt
- Upgraded
Deck
- More
Programs
- Heart
Rate Monitor
- Heart
Rate Feedback
- Upgraded
Display with More Readouts
- Express
Incline and Speed Buttons
Many
of the extras listed above you will find standard on most models. For example,
heart monitor, and express incline and speed buttons. What you won't find standard
is premium components like a McMillian Motor.
Built in the U.S.A.What
makes the PaceMaster Silver treadmill a standout is the overall quality of the
engineering and components. PaceMaster is one of the few companies to still produce
treadmills in the U.S.A. Although there are some excellent machines built in Taiwan
and China, one of the problems is distance, and the time it takes to address quality
control issues. I worked for a company that had treadmills manufactured
in Taiwan. It would take more than 2 months from the time we placed an order and
it arrived in our warehouse. If there were a problem with the design, it would
take another two months until the problem was addressed and problem free inventory
was available. When products are built and sold in the states, quality
control issues can be addressed instantly. That is one of the reasons PaceMaster
excels at quality control, and why their machines require low maintenance. Another
benefit is products can be built on demand as needed. Our Review - PaceMaster
SilverThe PaceMaster Silver is one of the best treadmills available at
the $2,000 price range. The only real contender is the Sole F85, which offers
a 2-year service warranty. If you want to focus on exercising and not treadmill
maintenance, then the Silver is a machine to consider. Men's Journal Review"...defies
the notion that you can't buy a good treadmill for less than $2,000. This machine
is rattle-free and quiet, with no friction-borne jerkiness - even at its performance
limits."
