The
PaceMaster Platinum Pro treadmill is their top of the line residential models.
If you have read any of my other PaceMaster reviews, you know that I have high
regards for their quality and durability.
The Platinum Pro is designed for
runners. It comes with a 3.0 HP continuous duty motor and an extra long 60"
deck. The motor is strong enough to run comfortably at high speeds. The deck length
is adequate to handle the long strides of runners. The parts and labor
warranty is average, except for the 5-year parts coverage. You will find
PaceMaster sold mainly in fitness equipment specialty stores. From most of the
salespeople I have talked to, PaceMaster treadmills have an excellent service
record, although the review below would suggest otherwise. Our ReviewThe
PaceMaster Platinum Pro treadmill is a solid machine, with a good reputation.
My only criticism is the price. It retails for $2,400. At that price you can get
some heavy duty machines. For example, the Platinum Pro weighs approximately 200
lbs. For $1,900 you can get a Sole S77 treadmill
with a 20"x 60" treadbelt, 3.5 HP motor and wireless heart rate control.
It weighs 280 lbs, and comes with a lifetime motor, 5-year parts and 2-year labor
warranty. Which is a better buy? Customer ReviewI
have had this treadmill for a little over a year. When it works, it works well
and is fun to use. Unfortunately, it never seems to work. I have had
three services calls and even had the electronic boards replaced after only a
few months. The dealer where I purchased the treadmill has the worst office skills
and has lost faxes, given wrong information to the repair people and company,
and has tried to blame me saying I didn t send the warranty card. (I photo copied
it before I mailed it.) Anyway, here I am again with some strange error
code. Of course not one that can be found in the Owner s manual. I need to call
and have it service. Oh, yea. I understand that the heart monitor isn t 100% accurate.
Never thought it would be. However, now it doesn t work at all. I would give this
treadmill 1 ½ stars. - April A.
