When
it comes to a treadmill, I prefer the equivalent of a Honda. Nothing fancy and
not a lot of bells and whistles. I want a solid and durable machine that can handle
the long haul. I want to focus on exercising rather than maintenance.
The
PaceMaster Bronze treadmill fits that bill. It is a very basic machine, with an
excellent service record. It is one of the few American made treadmills left.
Most manufacturers actually outsource to China and Taiwan. It should be
noted that PaceMaster only builds treadmills, and has been building them for over
35 years. PaceMaster focuses on one product, and consequently excels in the quality
and design. With the PaceMaster Bronze, you will find no video monitors,
speakers, interactive programs, or MP3 plug-ins. What you will find is a treadmill
that provides an exceptional cardio workout. What You Get The
PaceMaster Bronze has a McMillan 3.0 continuous duty HP motor. This motor is sufficient
to hand both walkers and joggers. You get a 54" long running surface, adequate
for average height users. For those that are taller, or are into sprinting or
interval training, you should consider their gold series with a 60" running
surface.
The Bronze is also equipped with 2.5" rollers. With rollers
the bigger the better. Bigger rollers extend the life of the motor, belt, bearings
and the rollers, due to fewer revolutions. The PaceMaster Bronze is backed with
a 12-year motor, 5-year parts, and 1-year labor warranty. Not exceptional, but
not bad. The LED console provides four simultaneous readouts for monitoring
your progress. It also has a large progression readout. Although I am not crazy
about the membrane overlay of the console. Being very basic machine, you do not
get a heart rate monitor, and the selection of user programs is limited. Our
Review - PaceMaster BronzeAs with all of their treadmills, the PaceMaster
Bronze has an excellent reputation for performance and durability. Since the company
only sells treadmills, you are buying from specialists. If there is any
criticism of the Bronze, it is the price for a very basic machine. PaceMaster
does not sell direct or online. They generally sell through fitness specialty
stores. The Bronze is listed at $1,700, and that is without delivery or set-up.
At that price, there are a couple of strong contenders. However, you cannot deny
that PaceMaster makes some of the most reliable treadmills in the $1,500 - $2,500
price range. Customer ReviewI purchased your Bronze
model for Christmas and completely love it. I must have looked at hundreds of
different machine at stores and on the Internet. Most were just cheap junk! I
am proud to own your American made product. I hope you will continue to produce
your fine line in the USA.
