The 2012 NordicTrack T7.0 treadmill replaces the popular NordicTrack A2550 PRO. The T7.0 has several impressive improvements that include a larger motor, longer deck, better warranty and iFit Live compatibility.
Being part of the largest fitness equipment company in the world, NordicTrack excels at offering more for less. A perfect example is the comparison of the NordicTrack T7.0 to the comparably priced Horizon T202. The T7.0 outspecs the T202 in numerous categories.
Note: The NordicTrack T7.0 treadmill typically sells for $799 with free shipping. A good value for a budget treadmill. Go to www.NordicTrack.com for the latest price.*
NordicTrack T7.0 Treadmill Features
2.75 HP Continuous Duty HP Motor — The continuous duty is the rating that the motor runs at without straining. This motor is sufficient for both walkers and joggers. It comes with a lifetime warranty, which suggests there are seldom problems with it. It is probably the most powerful motor you will find at this price range.
20" x 58" Treadbelt — They increased the length of the belt by 3" over the 2550 Pro, allowing the treadmill to better accommodate taller individuals.
iFit Live with Google Maps — iFit Live lets you run the world virtually. Through Google Maps you can plot a route and run practically anywhere. As you run the route your treadmill will mimic the incline with the terrain. In addition, you have access to either a map, satellite, street or earth view through Google Maps. I tried iFit Live recently and was able to run through my neighborhood while viewing familiar sites. In addition, there is a library of popular cityscape routes and trails.
iFit Live also gives you the ability to get a personalize workout based on your fitness goals. You create an account on iFit.com and define your goals, like losing weight or training for a race. iFit Live will download progressive workouts designed to achieve those goals. They are designed by professional fitness trainer like Jillian Michaels and include audio coaching. Your stats are fed back to iFit.com, where you can track your progress. Studies show that people who track their progress are more likely to reach their target.
Finally, NordicTrack organizes virtual races through predefined routes. As you race you can view your progress in relation to the leader, the pack and the last person. One of their recent races had 2,000 competitors. There are also a series of training routines for 5K, 10K, and marathon races. There is an additional cost for this feature.
Built-in Sound System — The sound is decent, and better than most treadmills with speakers in the console. However, the real benefit is that the apex is pointing directly at you. You can plug in your iPod and rock out while you burn calories and excess fat.
Workout Fan — I was surprised to find out this is one of the most popular features on their treadmills. The fan has 2-speed settings.
24 Preprogrammed Workouts — There are a variety of workouts that control the speed and incline of the treadmill. They focus on different fitness goals like aerobics, weight loss, or performance.
Warranty — You get lifetime motor, 2-year parts and 1-year labor coverage. Typically at this price you only get a 1-year parts warranty.
Our Review — NordicTrack T7.0 Treadmill
NordicTrack and ProForm, which are both owned by Icon Fitness, offer some of the best value for under $1,000. The NordicTack T7.0 is about the most durable treadmill you will find in this price range. It also has some impressive features and components for $799.
The T7.0 is primarily a walking machine, but it can handle light jogging. They put the user weight limit at 350 lbs., but I would limit it to around 270 lbs.
For a moderately priced treadmill the NordicTrack T7.0 is hard to beat.
