The NordicTrack Elite zi treadmill is the 2009 version of their popular Elite 7000, and that is a good thing. Why? Because you are getting proven components that has a track-record in the homes of numerous customers.
The Elite zi has many of of the features that are included on the Elite 7000. However, they increased the horsepower on the motor and added some more workout programs. In addition, they upgraded the console, and I must say this is one of the more attractive consoles and displays found on a treadmill.
NordicTrack Elite zi Treadmill Features...
3.0 Continuous Duty HP Motor - At 3.0 HP, you have a motor that can handle walking, jogging and running without overheating. This motor runs relatively quiet.
20" x 60" Treadbelt - A typical treadmill comes with a 54" long treadbelt. The extra 6" on the Elite zi can really make a difference. It is ideal for tall individuals and people who like to sprint or interval train.
Intermix Acoustics Equalized Sound System - This is one of the better sound systems built into a treadmill. You can plug in your iPod to the console.
ifit® Workout Card Technology - The ifit technology is one of the more innovative ideas to come out of the fitness equipment industry. For an extra fee, you can purchase a serious of exercise programs created by professional fitness trainers. It follows an eight-week series. Each workout controls the speed and the incline of the machine, and also include audio. A personal trainer encourages you while providing tips on how to maximize your workout.
Warranty - You get lifetime coverage on the motor, which is typical these days. You also get a 1-year parts and labor warranty. The best coverage, but you can extend the warranty for a very reasonable price. I would get 1-2 more years to protect your investment.
Adjustable Cushioning Deck - You can change the absorption level. The difference it not dramatic, but you will notice it. The benefit is some people prefer a firm surface for a better push off or a softer surface for less impact.
26 Built-in Workouts - In the past, I preferred manually controlling the intensity of my workouts. Lately, I have utilizing all of the exercise programs that come with my machine. With 26 various workouts, you can almost have a different one for each day of the month. This can really help to break-up the monotony of running in place.
Our Review - The NordicTrack Elite zi
As mentioned NordicTrack took their Elite 7000, upgraded several of the features, and now call it the Elite zi. The 7000 had a good service record, and when on sale, was a decent value for the money.
At $1,500 with shipping, the NordicTrack Elite zi is also a good value. You are getting a 60" treadbelt, 3.0 HP motor, a forgiving deck and a generous selection of programs. Combine the features and the reliability, and this model should be a winner.
