NordicTrack ViewPoint 3500 Treadmill Review

The NordicTrack ViewPoint 3500 treadmill is a combination cardio and entertainment machine. You get a good selections of features to help you attain your fitness goals, combined with a 7' flat screen television and a premium sound system.

I'm surprised more companies are not equipping their treadmills with TVs and sound systems, because they appear to be very popular and big sellers for NordicTrack. And it makes sense - if you can be entertained while getting a cardio workout, you are more likely to burn calories and get into shape. And you are less likely to watch those minutes drudgingly go by.

These are the features I like on the NordicTrack ViewPoint 3500 Treadmill...

7" Flat Screen Television - It's not the same as sitting in front of a 60' HDTV, however it is located conveniently in the console - right where your vision is directed. The TV screen also has a multi-color display that shows you time, distance and calories burned. You can watch your favorite program and get constant feedback on your progress.

Premium Sound System - I've heard this sound system and was surprised at the quality. You can plug in your MP3 and I believe an iPod. I find having an external sound system is preferable over wearing headphones.

3.5 Continuous Duty Motor - At 3.5 HP you are getting a powerful motor that should run cool and quiet even at higher speeds. NordicTrack uses MacMillan motors on their machines. They incorporate a fan that helps to keep the motor cool, which means less noise and mechanical problems. These motors have a good service record and with this model, you get a lifetime warranty.

iFit Technology - Would you like a personal trainer to coach you in attaining your fitness goals - then iFit is the solution. iFit is a series of workout programs that comes on a disk and is inserted into your treadmill. The programs focus on different exercise goals and are geared to different levels of fitness. The programs control the speed and incline, and include audio coaching from a professional trainer. This is one of the most innovative ideas to come out of the treadmill industry in a number of years.

In addition to the iFit features the NordicTrack ViewPoint 3500 comes with 14 built-in programs that focus on aerobic, weight loss, or performance goals.

Adjustable Cushioning Deck - The 3500 is equipped with 5-position adjustable cushion deck. You can adjust the deck to level of impact that best suites you.

Warranty - Although you get a lifetime warranty on the motor, the rest of the coverage is not that extensive. To be honest, NordicTrack wants to upsell you on further coverage. The 3500 comes with a 1-year parts and labor warranty. I would suggest you upgrade to an additional 2-years. The cost is not that much.

Our Review - NordicTrack ViewPoint 3500 Treadmill

For under $1,500 you are getting an impressive package of features. This treadmill should be able to handle joggers and moderate runners. If you are a serious runner you would want to upgrade. I should note that the 55" treadbelt is sufficient for average height individuals. If you are over 6'1" consider a treadmill with a 60" long belt.

The ViewPoint 3500 is more than a cardio exercise machine - it also motivates and entertains as you achieve your fitness goals.
