The NordicTrack 7000R is no longer available. See the NordicTrack Review Page for the latest models.

In
the competitive $1,500 price range, NordicTrack offers the 7000R treadmill. A
sleek looking machine with a well designed console. As I mentioned in my general
NordicTrack review, their budget machines tend to skimp on quality components,
and the machines are not always reliable. On the other hand, their high-end treadmills
can compete with the best of them.
NordicTrack is a subsidiary of Icon
Fitness, which manufacturers ProForm, Weslo, Image and Reebok. Don't let that
scare you, certain NordicTrack models are a vast improvement over these budget
brands. NordicTrack 7000R FeaturesThe 7000R treadmill is their
competitive mid-range model. For the price, it offers some decent features. For
example, it has a 3.0 continuous duty hp motor. When I tested the 7000R,
I found the motor to have adequate power even when I cranked it up. It ran reasonably
quiet at higher speeds. The motor is covered with a lifetime warranty. Another
feature that stands out is the 60" long treadbelt. At this price range,
you won't find many treadmills where the belt exceeds 55". This longer belt
is excellent for running and can accommodate tall users. I particularly like longer
belts for interval training. The ReFlex deck adequately absorbs the impact
of running. When you step down the deck flattens to absorb impact, and as you
begin your stride, it then springs back to its original shape. My only concern
is how it would hold up to regular use. As
I mentioned, I liked the look and feel of the console. You get five simultaneous
readouts, in addition to a ¼ track. With five windows you don't need to
scroll back and forth to get various feedbacks. Moreover, as with all NordicTrack
treadmills, the 7000R has the iFIT technology. By inserting program cards into
the console, you can get motivational custom workouts created by personal trainers.
The program controls the speed and incline, and the trainer verbally motivates
you through the speakers. Additional, iFIT programs are extra.
NordicTrack
7000R Treadmill WarrantyMy constant complaint with NordicTrack treadmills
is the limited warranty. With the 7000R you get parts and labor coverage for 1
year. The Sole F80 goes for $1,500 and has a 5-year parts, 2-year labor warranty.
You can purchase an extended warranty for the 7000R. Customer Reviews
(These are reviews for the similar NordicTrack 5100R)Nordic 5100R,
another solid machine. Pros strong
and quiet motor Cons belt length (The 5100R had a 54" belt,
the 7000R has a 60") The Bottom Line With a strong and quiet
motor and plenty of programs this treadmill is very nice for the price. Seems
Fine at For First Few Months, But ... Pros Reflex
Deck is easy on the legs. Cons Durability is non-existent. The
Bottom Line I would not recommend this treadmill. Having rear roller adjustment
bolt break twice is not good. I like the reflex deck feature, but loud creaking
sounds make it unbearable. Quietest treadmill we found Pros Quiet,
sturdy feel, easy fold-up, warranty Cons Shared displays, heavy
(find a spot you'll love to leave it in!) price The Bottom Line As
a (novice) 70% walker/30% runner I would recommend the NordicTrack Reflex 5100R
to anyone who's looking for a relatively quiet, well built treadmill.
