The NordicTrack Apex 6000 is a strong contender in the competitive $1,000 price range. Unlike other NordicTrack treadmills, the 6000 lacks many of the bells and whistles. It focused on offering features designed for achieving your fitness goals. That includes a hefty motor and a good size deck.

You get a 20" x 55" treadbelt, which is adequate to handle most users. If you are extremely tall and plan to jog, you will want to upgrade to a treadmill with a 60' treadbelt. The treadbelt runs on 2.5" rollers, which, like the motor is a generous size for this price range. When it comes to rollers the larger the better. Large rollers reduce noise and extend the life of the motor, belt, bearings and the rollers themself.

The console has a nice user friendly layout. You will notice that you get push buttons for speed and incline control. That way you do not have to toggle up and down to make changes. You also get two good size fans that kick out some air. This display is fairly basic, but it provides the necessary feedback to monitor your progress.

You get a decent selection of built-in workout programs. They include 11 for weight loss and 4 for distance training. Two are for ½ marathon and marathon workouts. To be honest, if you plan to train for a marathon you need to purchase a higher quality machine. I would recommend spending around $2,000 or more.

As with all NordicTrack treadmills, the Apex 6000 has average warranty coverage, although you do get lifetime on the motor. The warranty for the parts and labor is one year. You can get a 2-year extension for only $99 - recommended.

Our Review - NordicTrack Apex 6000 Treadmill

This treadmill is a good value at $999, especially when the price includes free shipping. Although the content on the site may suggest this treadmill is designed for jogging and running, I recommend this model for walking and moderate jogging. One thousand dollars just doesn't buy a heavy-duty running machine.

The NordicTrack Apex 6000 is one of their most popular models sold online. In fact, you can only purchase it through their site. It appears to have a good service record and overall is a good value.
