The
NordicTrack ViewPoint 3000 treadmill combines fitness with a
visual and audio experience. If you have ever workout at a health
club, you probably saw a series of televisions above the machines.
The fact is, exercising on a treadmill can get rather boring. No
matter how fast you go, or how high much you crank up the incline,
you are always in the same place.
Having distractions while you are walking or running helps the time
go buy, and the longer you workout, the more calories you are going
burn.
Note: As of 7/1/08 the
NordicTrack ViewPoint 3000 was selling for $999, with shipping.
This is the lowest price I've seen for this treadmill. Go to NordicTrack.com
for the latest deal.
The NordicTrack ViewPoint 3000 has several features to take the
boredom out of your workout.
You
get a 7" flat screen TV that is cable/DVD ready. The
screen also displays and monitors your speed, time and calories
burned. You can watch your favorite show or movie and get feedback
on your progress.
- The ViewPoint 3000 has a sweet sound system. It is actually
one of the better sound systems for a treadmill. In addition to
quality speakers, you also get a subwoofer. That cracks
me up, a treadmill with a subwoofer. Crank up the sound and you'll
feel the beat through the whole machine. The sound system is compatible
with your MP3 player.
- The ViewPoint 3000 comes with iFIT technology. If you
can use some motivation to sweat off those extra pounds, then
iFIT is the answer. You insert an iFIT workout card into the treadmill.
There are a series of cards designed to accomplish different fitness
goals (wellness, weight loss, body shaping) at different levels
(novice, intermediate, advanced). Each card has 24 workouts. Once
you finish one workout, it moves on to the next.
A certified personal trainer designed each workout. The
program controls the speed, incline and duration of your exercise.
Meanwhile, there is audio coaching, designed to motivate and enhance
your workout. The only draw back is each card cost $30 a piece.
However, that is considerably less than hiring a personal trainer.
Of course, the above features are useless unless you have a treadmill
designed to meet your fitness goals. Overall, the NordicTrack ViewPoint
3000 has some decent components for the price. For example:
2.5
HP continuous duty motor
- A five-position adjustable cushion deck.
- Up to 12 mph speed
- Up to 12% incline
- Hydraulic shock assistant folding
- 14 pre-installed workout programs
- Handgrip cardio feedback
Here are a few suggestions if you are considering the NordicTrack
ViewPoint 3000:
Although you get a lifetime motor warranty, the parts and labor
coverage is only for 1 year. You may want to consider an extended
warranty. Also, there have been some issues on the quality of NordicTrack's
customer service. I was informed by the company they are spending
$2 million to enhance and improve their call center.
Even though they claim the machine has a 350 lb weight capacity,
like most manufacturers they are overstating. I would suggest the
top end is more like 260 lbs.
Some of the installed programs include 10K training and marathon
training. I would rate this treadmill as adequate for walking and
light jogging. If you plan to run extensively, you should upgrade
to a machine that is in the $1,500+ price range. You probably want
a stronger motor and longer deck.

Customer Review
"I have had this treadmill for a few months and it is
great- no problems at all. The television and speakers are great.
I DVR my favorite shows or just watch the news and before you
know it, the workout is over. The I-fit workouts really get you
moving and burns many calories. I will definitely by a NordicTrack
customer for life!"
I have my viewpoint treadmill now for about 2 weeks, I mostly do incline walking for about 30 minutes a day, and very lite jogging, I recently read some reviews that some customer had problems with the control panel, at first I had a problem with the flat screen TV, but I satellite and not cable at my house, so when I hooked up the TV I didn't have it on the UFH channel once I put it on the right channel, I got a good picture and the sound is superb quality for a treadmill, also has a imput for I Pod and for DVD player etc. No problem with customer service I did purchase a extended warranty, If you decide to put it together yourself and with someone else, assemble it on a carpet for moveablility it easier because its so cumbersome, and then you could move it to whereever you want it after that, fairly sturdy, but I would get more reviews if your over 250lbs. and want to run alot.
"I have had many treadmills but never a Nordic Track.
It doesn't compare to any other. I fully recommend spending the
extra money on a Nordic Track. This particular one is tops for
the dollar amount. The TV is wonderful, Ipod listening is great
and the fan and quiet motor are wonderful. I hope to have this
treadmill for a very long time!!!! I give it a 10!!!!!!"
