What
makes the NordicTrack C2500 a value buy is the 20" x 60"
treadbelt. Most treadmills at this price range have a belt that
is 54" or less. The longer belt is ideal for taller users,
or for jogging. In addition to the belt this treadmill has some
impressive features.
NordicTrack typically excels at innovation. The treadmill
industry as a whole seems to have slipped into a technological morose.
Meanwhile NordicTrack is striking out with some of the most innovative
features available on a treadmill. Many designed to motivate you
in attaining your fitness goals.
Note: The NordicTrack
C2500 is back on sale at $899, with shipping (As of 7/21/08). Go to

Here are the features I like on the NordicTrack 2500 treadmill:
ifit®
Workout Card Technology - If you are not motivated to use your
treadmill it is a waste of money. Motivation is what you need to
sweat off those extra pounds. The 2500 comes with ifit technology,
which is a series of training programs that act like a virtual personal
trainer, minus their expensive fee.
The programs are designed by professional trainers and come in
computer cards that you insert into the machine. Each card offers
a number of workouts based on your exercise goals and level of fitness.
They include audio coaching to further encourage you burn those
calories. (Note: The cards are an additional coach.)
iPod
Compatible Sound System - Speaking of motivation, many find
listening to music invigorating. The NordicTrack 2500 has built-in
premium speakers and a docking bay for an iPod. I believe it also
works with MP3 players.
Pre-Programmed Workouts - Included with the treadmill is
16 workout programs, once again, designed by professional personal
trainers. Eight focuses on weight loss and eight are classic workouts
like hill climbing. The difference is they do not have audio coaching.
However, having 16 workout programs gives you variety and changing
up your exercise routine.
Competition Training Center & Fitness Journal - Two
more motivational features is the ability to compete with a virtual
competitors, and technology that allows you to track your progress
on a daily, weekly, monthly and yearly basis.
DuraSoft
Advanced Cushioning - This innovative deck allows you to adjust
the level of shock absorption. Depending on your preference, you
can have more or less shock resistance. Walkers may want a more
sturdy deck, while runners may prefer a more forgiving impact.
20"X 60" Treadbelt - As mentioned above, most
treadmills in this price range are built with a 53"-55"
long treadbelt. This is a comfortable length for walking and medium
height users, but if you plan to jog or are above 6'1", having
an extra long treadbelt makes a difference. You won't feel like
you're falling off the end.
Our Review - NordicTrack 2500 Treadmill
The 2500 is not your average treadmill - it is a motivational cardio
machine. If you are like me and find working out on a treadmill
boring, then having interaction and/or music is a plus when going
the extra mile.
I would recommend this treadmill for walking and light jogging.
If you plan to run regularly, i.e. daily, you probably want to upgrade
to a mid-range treadmill. Also, the 325 lbs. user weight limit is
a stretch. I would suggest around 235 lbs.
The feature where the 2500 falls short is the warranty, but for
the price what do you expect. It come with a generous lifetime warranty
on the motor, but the parts and labor are only for a year. I would
recommend you get the 1-2 year extension. It is worth the extra
money.
Overall, the NordicTrack 2500 treadmill offers an appealing package
designed for attaining your fitness goals.
