NordicTrack C 2400 Treadmill Review

The NordicTrack C 2400 treadmill is a top contender at the competitive $1,000 price range. Features like deck length, motor size, display, console, and rollers are comparable to my other favorite picks. What makes the C 2400 a standout is a number of exclusive features only found on NordicTrack treadmills.

I recently was at the NordicTrack headquarters, and a significant part of the office space is dedicated to research and design. The combination of innovative features and value pricing is why the company is the largest seller of fitness equipment in the world.

Features that make the NordicTrack C 2400 a Best Buy:

Intermix Acoustic Sound System. This is the best sound system built into a treadmill. It comes with high-end speakers, and if that is not enough, a subwoofer. You'll be rockin as you're running. You can plug in your MP3, and other popular audio inputs.

iFIT Technology - iFIT rocks! It is a series of programmable cards you insert into the treadmill. Each card offers an 8-week program that covers 24 different workouts. The programs control the incline, speed and duration of the workout. Each is designed by a personal trainer. Included is audio coaching, motivation and suggestions to optimize your workout.

You have your choice of three levels - beginner, intermediate and advanced. You also can get different cards that focus on different fitness goals - wellness, weight loss, body shaping and endurance. For most of us who can use some additional motivation - iFIT is the answer.

Adjustable Cushion Deck - People prefer different levels of shock absorption on a treadmill deck. The C 2400 allows you to adjust the cushion level, thereby increasing or decreasing the level of impact. According to NordicTrack, the adjustable deck reduces impact up to 28% over running on the street. For those suffering from strains or injuries this is an especially beneficial feature. Further NordicTrack C 2400 features include:

2.5 HP continuous duty motor - Provides adequate power for walking and light jogging. Runners should consider an upgraded model with high continuous duty horsepower.

55" long treadbelt - A comfortable length for average height individuals. Taller users will want to consider a model with a 60" belt.

14 installed programs - A generous selection of programs that offer different challenges and focus on different goals. Similar to the iFIT, but without the audio and gradual progression sequence.

It should be noted the C 2400 is equipped for wireless heart rate control and two of the installed programs are heart rate control. The wireless belt is $99 - worth considering.

A built-in fan - It won't blow you away, but provides relief and adjusts speed with the treadmill.

Warranty - You get lifetime coverage on the motor and one-year parts and labor. You may want to increase the coverage by a year or two.

Our Review - NordicTrack C 2400 Treadmill

The C 2400 treadmill is ideal for walking and light jogging. If you plan on intensive workouts, or have multiple users, consider a model with larger motor. In addition, I would place the weight limit on this treadmill at 250 lbs. All manufacturers overrate the weight limit.

As mentioned, there is considerable competition at $1,000. That includes models by Smooth, Bowflex, Horizon and New Balance. The C 2400 matches or exceeds the components of the other brands. When you add the iFIT technology, adjustable cushioning and speak system, it put the C 2400 over the top as one of the Best Buys. This treadmill has been out for a couple of years and has a good service record.
