At
this price range there are a number of other brands that blow this
model away. For example, the Smooth 5.45 has a 2.5 hp motor, similar
size deck, 2.5" rolles and a lifetime motor, 3 year parts and
1 year service warranty ($1,000, includes shipping). The NordicTrack
4200 R has a one parts and labor warranty.
It
appears that Nordictrack attempted to sell this machine by giving
it a big bulky look, especially with the console. But what you really
want is a well engineered machine made with quality parts. That
is not what you are going to get with the 4200.
Our
Review
NordicTrack
treadmills are built by Icon. The original NordicTrack company went
out of business and they bought the rights to the name.
Icon
sells ProForm, Reebok, Weslo, Image and more. They dominate the
low end market with bulky treadmill and slick features at the sacrifice
of the important components like motors, lower boards and belts.
The NordicTrack is their high-end treadmills. There are some NordicTrack
treadmills that are a reasonable value, like the S3000, but the
4200 needs to be discontinued.
For
a comparable price there are other treadmills that have a very good
service record and a considerably better warranty. For a good walking
and jogging treadmill check out the Sole F80 treadmill.
