Horizon T1201 Treadmill ReviewHorizon treadmills are manufactured by Johnson Health Tech, one of the largest fitness equipment manufacturers in the world. Johnson has been making fitness products for over three decades.a testimony of the company's experience and expertise in the field.

The Horizon T1201 folding treadmill is one of Horizon's newer treadmills with two features that are appealing. The 20" x 60" deck and the stylish console that comes in several different colors.

This particular model has been a popular seller, probably due to the fact that it is available at Dick's Sporting Goods.

Note: The Horizon T1201 treadmill is no longer available online. A good value is the Horizon T93. With coupon code it is selling for $729 with shipping. See Review!

Below are some of the features that are found on the Horizon T1201:

20" x 60" running surface -Nice-size surface for taller people with longer strides! I recommend getting a treadmill with a larger running surface, if at all possible.

Speed range from 0.5 to 12.0 mph- Pretty standard range

Incline level up to 12% — Slightly higher incline range than some comparable treadmills.

2.5 hp continuous-duty motor (covered by a lifetime warranty)- Not the most powerful treadmill motor out there, but adequate for moderate jogging and walking.

3-zone variable cushioning for optimal comfort- Provides support and shock absorption along the entire belt. This can greatly reduce the impact on your back and joints.

iPod docking station and speakers with input and headphone jacks to get you revved up during your workouts - With speakers on the console, you won't need headphones to listen to your favorite music.

The iPod docking station is a nice feature to have. It keeps your iPod charged, and you can control the iPod through the console.

7 workout programs, including 3 open-ended workouts and 4 saved workouts 2 easily seen red LED windows and additional communication window

Warranty

  • Labor: 1 year
  • Frame: Lifetime
  • Motor: Lifetime
  • Parts: 4 years

With a variety of workout programs to choose from, you can change up your exercise routine to keep from getting bored. The choice in programs also helps you to set and easily achieve your fitness goals. Most treadmills nowadays come with built-in workout programs.

The weight limit on this treadmill is set at 350 pounds maximum, which suggests that the machine is fairly durable and stable, although I feel 350 lbs. is a bit extreme. According to Horizon, the frame is heavy and stable enough for even the most intense exercise sessions. The T1201 is likely quite adequate for light jogging, as well as walking.

Our Review - Horizon T1201 Treadmill

Would I recommend this treadmill? The Horizon T1201 is sufficient to meet the needs of most users, and the 60" treadbelt is a nice feature for the price. If you're into heavy training or competitive running, however, you should probably consider a more durable, commercial-quality machine.

When testing the treadmill I found the deck fairly stable and solid, although the console was a bit shaking. That could be due to not tightening the screws adequately.

Should you buy this model? The length of the deck is appealing, and I would suggest this length for taller individuals. A couple of brands I recommend, Smooth and Sole, have treadmills with 60" treadbelts starting at around $1,800. However, you can find some comparably priced models from NordicTrack with the longer deck.

One more note: In this price range, treadmills are generally a little higher quality than the lower-priced models. And the T1201 comes with a fairly decent warranty. Nevertheless, if you want to be on the safe side and ensure that the machine is protected against breakdown beyond the standard warranty, I recommend buying the 1-year extended warranty. Avoid the warranties through Dick's and buy the extended warranty from the manufacturer.
