The Horizon GS1040T Treadmill is a solid contender for the competitive $1,000 price range. It is a treadmill that is best suited for first time buyers who are walkers or light joggers. Its' quality surpasses the bargain basement models you'll find at WallMart, but I wouldn't buy it if I were a runner, or there were going to be regular multiple users.

Overall, Horizon is a major contender in this price range. Their machines are sold through numerous large sportings goods stores, fitness specialty stores and online. Considering their price points, they have a decent reputation for quality control
