Horizon T50 Treadmill Review

The Horizon T50 treadmill is the budget model of the Horizon series. The best I can say about this treadmill is if you are cash strapped, then you may want to consider this treadmill.

I generally recommend that you spend at least $1,000 for a decent walking treadmill. But that may bust your budget, especially if you are not sure the treadmill will end up as a clothes hanger.

The one feature that sticks out is the 20"x55" belt. That is a reasonable size belt for the money. A couple of reasons you may want to consider upgrading are the 1.75 hp motor and the warranty. With a 1.75 continuous duty horse power motor, you may find the motor strains. Especially if you are over 200 lbs. If the motor is not up to the job it will eventually burn out.

The other drawback is the 1 year parts and 90 day labor warranty (motor is covered for 10 years). That really says something about the quality of the machine. Although most places that sell the T-50 will offer an extended warranty. Once you get in the $1,000+ category you generally will get a 3-5 year warranty on parts and 1 year labor.

Our Review - Horizon T50 Treadmill

There is not denying the price is attractive. Dick's Sporting is selling it at $599, with inside delivery. But if you plan to use the treadmill on a regular basis, there's a chance you will have trouble down the road. As noted this is a walking treadmill and should not be used for jogging.

Heart rate monitor never worked, dealer unable to repair. Today, while walking, it suddenly shot up to full speed, throwing me off and tripping the breaker. Now it won't run at all. I'll never feel safe on it again. Never, NEVER again a Horizon product!
