Diamondback
has a solid reputation building quality exercise bikes and steppers. The jury
is still out on their treadmills. Their first generation had problems, they pulled
them off the market and have been out of the treadmill business until recently.
Their new generation holds promise, and looks to be contenders in
the competitive $1,500 - $2,500 price range. The Diamondback 600Tm treadmill
is the upgrade from the 500Tm. It sells for
approximate $300 more. It includes the following features, found on both models.
- 2.5 HP continuous duty motor
- 20" x 55" running
surface
- 1" thick deck
- 12% incline
- 2-ply
anti static belt
- Lifetime motor, 5-year parts and 1-year labor warranty
The
upgrades include: - 3.0 HP continuous duty motor
- Wireless
heart rate control with strap
- 8 preset, 4 heart rate and 4 custom
programs
- Quick select incline and speed buttons
I tested
all three models and was impressed with how solid they felt. The Diamondback 600Tm
weighs a heavy 257 lbs. When you rock it, it barely budges. The
console has a nice layout and feel. It is easy to figure out what you want and
how to get it. The deck had just the right amount of support, absorbing my impact
without being too bouncy. I cranked up the 600 Tm to about 9 mph and increased
the incline. The motor didn't appear to strain at all. These days it is hard to
tell exactly what the real horse power is, regardless what the manufacturer claims.
Our
Review - Diamondback 600TmWould I like to own a Diamondback 600Tm. Yes,
but! Being a relatively new treadmill with a questionable history, I would have
my concerns. Will these treadmill be around for awhile? At least we know the company
is not going anywhere. I worked for a treadmill company, and every time
we released a new model the first shipments had problems- some minor, some major.
It usually too 6-12 months to work out all the bugs. Maybe Diamondback did enough
quality control testing to avoid this scenario. I will continue to keep
in touch with the salespeople at ProSource, and will monitor customer reviews
to see how this model and the others hold up.
