If
you read my Diamondback treadmill review,
you know that the Diamondback 500Tm is a relatively new treadmill. Diamondback
is better knows for their bikes and steppers. Their previous treadmill models
had problems. Diamondback took them off the market and was out of the treadmill
business until recently.
Their track record obvious has not been
good, but I believe it is about to get better. The Diamondback 500Tm treadmill
appears to be a solid and durable machine. The people at ProSource, in Raleigh,
said they have had few to no service issues with the treadmill. The Diamondback
500Tm sells in the competitive $1,500 price range. It offers some nice features
like: - 2.5 HP continuous duty motor - Adequate for walking and jogging.
- 2.5"
rollers - larger size decreases wear
- 20" x 55" running surface
- Good for moderate height individuals.
- 1" thick deck - Should
not crack under normal use.
- Wireless compatible receiver - strap
is extra.
What
I particularly noticed is how solid the treadmill felt. That probably has to do
with the fact that it weighs 257 lbs. You won't want to move this treadmill
around. Make sure to get the inside delivery service.
When I cranked both
the speed and incline the treadmill was fairly quiet. An indication the motor
was not straining. The treadmill has a respectable warranty, which includes lifetime
motor, 5-year parts, 1-year labor. Note: This is a non-folding treadmill.
Diamondback does not have an folding models. Our Review - Diamondback
500TmMy first impression is this treadmill is a good value at around $1,500.
It has some nice features and appears to be solid and sturdy. The only complaint
is there are no buttons for quickly adjusting the incline or speed. You had to
scroll with the incline and speed button - I hate that. The question is,
do you want to buy a treadmill from a company that failed on their first attempt?
I would probably wait until this model has a trackrecord. On the other hand, the
warranty would suggest Diamondback has faith the product will last. The
Diamondback 500Tm treadmill is primarily for walking and jogging, if you are a
runner you may want to upgrade to the 600Tm,
with a more powerful motor. If you are a jogger or runner and are over 5'10"
you should consider the 700Tm with a 60"
running surface.
