I was looking over reviews on your site and appreciate the work you do.. I was wondering if you could give me some advice. I am in the market for a treadmill for walking / jogging & maybe some light running. I am not going to be training for a marathon, but more for cardio / endurance. I am looking for a foldable model. I am 6’0 and 195lbs. I was really looking at the smooth 5.65, but I am just not sure how it handles the occasional running that I would like to do. I called smooth and they of course recommended the more expensive Smooth 6.75 due to the heavier weight of the unit. (not to mention the increased cost) What are your thoughts? Would the 5.65 be fine for me? I am probably the only one that will use it, and maybe 2 – 3 times a week on average.

Considering you will only use it 2-3 times a week I would think it would be adequate. It may strain slightly at higher speeds with the 2.5 hp motor, but the 1/2 HP difference between the two treadmills should not make that much of a difference.

Smooth sends me monthly notices on their various treadmill discount coupons. In addition, they often have weekend specials. During my recent trip to the Smooth Fitness corporate headquarters I took some videos of the various models, including the Smooth 5.65 treadmill. Since Smooth Fitness products are sold online and not through local retailers, I felt the videos would help potential customers visualize the equipment, and get a better understanding of the features and benefits.

I often get inquiries as to which is better a Sole treadmill or Smooth treadmill. First, I have to confess that I use to work for Smooth several years ago, however, I believe both brands offer quality equipment at a value price. Here are some considerations.
Both Sole and Smooth offer 2-year labor, 5-year parts and lifetime motor warranties on most of their models. This says something about the durability of their machines. They would go broke with that kind of warranty if these treadmills did not hold up. Read more …

The bottomline, with the discounts in pricing and the above added incentives you just are not going to get a better deal on a Smooth treadmill or elliptical trainer.
